Greg McElroy: Alabama âmore vulnerable than everâ under Nick Saban
ESPN analyst Greg McElroy, a former Alabama quarterback, noted Alabama isn’t “dead,” but he did acknowledge the Crimson Tide is “more vulnerable than ever” after a 34-24 loss to Texas on Saturday.
McElroy, who hosts “Always College Football,” pointed to the offensive line, a unit he called “the heart and soul of Alabama” appeared outmatched.
“Alabama does feel vulnerable,” McElroy said. “Areas for Alabama that were supposed to be strengths coming into this year did not play like strengths this past weekend.
“There was some form of pressure coming in his direction.
JC Latham was vocal this offseason about the way the Tide offensive line wanted to play, but that was hardly the case on Saturday.
“When your strength isn’t playing like a strength, everyone around is going to play a little bit concerned,” McElroy said. “Maybe press and do a few too many things. That group has to collectively play better. They have to take a significant step forward.”
